For surfers, Ribeira D’ilhas offers challenging waves – it was once host to the world surfing championships. Beginners can be catered for with lessons at the Surf Camp. For more information click here..
The saltwater lake at Óbidos is 6km long and perfect for a wide range of water sports, including sailing, windsurfing, rowing, canoeing and fishing.- This mountain park provides opportunities for mountaineering, trekking and cave exploration.
Fortified defenses known as the ‘lines of Torres’ were designed by the Duke of Wellington to stop Napolean’s troops during the French invasion. Two hundred years later, these historically significant lines can be walked and climbed by history and nature lovers.-
Just 30 minutes drive from CampoReal, Lisbon offers a wealth of shopping opportunities. Colombo Shopping Mall is one of the largest in Europe with a number of popular high street brands. Visit the Chiado district in the centre for pottery, books and clothes or to stop for a coffee.
Sail to the island of Berlenga from Peniche where you can take in the local flora and fauna of this picturesque nature reserve, which includes puffins, guillemots and cormorants.
Buddha Eden is set within the Quinta dos Loridos estate in Bombarral. It features marble and granite Buddhas, dragons and oriental sculptures – including a collection of 700 uniquely hand painted terracotta soldiers dating back over 2,200 years. Absolutely amazing!-
The ice was sent by horse and then boat to the Royal Palace in Lisbon, where a French Chef would use to make ice-creams for the Portuguese Royal Family and 'Courtship'.
Tapada Nacional de Mafra was created during King João V’s realm. With an area of over 800 hectares, it has many species of animals and birds, and an unusually rich flora. Today it remains a fantastic place to visit for outdoor activities. For more information click here...-
